BRADDOCK, Pa., July 9, 2025 – Heritage Community Transportation is now accepting applications from nonprofits, schools and government-aJiliated entities for its courtesy rider card program.
Launched in 2021, the program provides service-based organizations with the ability to provide three-month complimentary rider cards to their constituents. This aJords card holders free, unlimited rides on Heritage Community Transportation buses, which serve individuals and families in 16 eastern Allegheny County communities, including East Pittsburgh, McKeesport and Monroeville. Riders often use Heritage to connect to Pittsburgh Regional Transit buses.
“Reliable transportation is a key element of socioeconomic mobility,” said Paula G. McWilliams, president and chief executive oJicer of Heritage Community Initiatives, which operates Heritage Community Transportation. “We oJer accessible, aJordable transportation, providing access to jobs, health care, education and many other essential services for the people we are privileged to serve.”
Heritage is the only human service nonprofit designated as a provider of public transportation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Past courtesy rider card recipients include: Auberle, Catholic Charities, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, PA Career Link and WIC.
